Between 6 and 12 months, babies transform from snugglers into curious explorers! At Mama Meet Up, parents asked lots of questions about how to keep up with this exciting stage β here are some of the most common Q&As.
π When should I start solids?
Most parents begin around 6 months, when babies can sit with support and show interest in food. Baby-led weaning, purΓ©es, or a mix β all are great options! Parents agreed itβs about patience, embracing the mess, and celebrating those first bites. We love using the Solid Starts app to track the foods you’ve introduced, many of our parents also use the 101 before one method. A favorite snack of our group is the MightyMe Nutty Puffs because they make helping introduce nut allergens early and often easy!
π§· How do I baby proof my home?
As crawling and pulling up begin, safety becomes key. Parents recommended starting with outlet covers, baby gates, and anchoring furniture. One hack: crawl around on the floor yourself β youβll spot hazards youβd otherwise miss! One tip from our parents? Make one low kitchen cabinet “their” cabinet, don’t put a baby lock, and keep all their plates, bibs, forks in there. Then you can create independence early, and have the kiddo begin to help out around the house.
π What activities are good for babies this age?
Absolutely! Baby Time and Storytime at local libraries remain favorites. Now, older babies clap, bounce, and interact more, making it fun for everyone. One of our favorite Saturday activities with babies this age is hitting the Texas Farmers Market at Bell, the Cedar Park Library and even Indigo Play Room if you’re up for a third spot.
π§Έ How do I keep babies busy at meet ups?
Play tents, toys, and snacks keep little ones entertained while parents connect.
Every crawl, giggle, and new skill is worth celebrating β and our community is here to cheer you through it all! π
