When Jenn and her husband relocated to Texas, they knew they wanted more than just a new house—they wanted a community. Far from extended family, they began looking online for mom and family meetups, hoping to find a circle of support in this new chapter of life.
“Honestly, I almost didn’t make it to the first meetup,” Jenn admits. With a young toddler at home, it felt easier to stay in. But her husband gave her the nudge she needed, reminding her how much she thrived on social connection. So, she went.
That first Mama Meet Up was a turning point. “Everyone was welcoming and made me feel included,” she recalls. What started as a tentative step has since grown into a steady source of connection.
For Jenn, the group has been more than playdates and casual chats. It’s been a supportive space where moms share everything from toddler meal planning tips to the reassurance that you don’t have to carry parenting worries alone. One mom even offered to watch Jenn’s toddler if her second baby came early—a small gesture that meant the world.
Her daughter, Hailey, has also found lasting friendships. “Her best friends are Iono and Willow,” Jenn shares with a smile. And some of Jenn’s fondest memories are simply watching Hailey laugh and play alongside those friends.
These days, Jenn and her family can be found at Obsidian Brewery or cooling off at local splash pads with friends from the network. For new moms hesitating to take that first step, Jenn’s advice is simple: “Just come. It may feel unnatural at first, but the community you gain is totally worth it.”
